Takashi Kobayashi

Kobayashi is a pioneer of building treehouses in Japan, who self-taught the design and
the philosophy behind treehouse and implemented its style into the landscape of Japan.
Since the production of his first treehouse in 1993,
Kobayashi has built over 140 treehouses and art pieces around the globe
with his unique artistic designs and architectural concepts/techniques rooted deeply
in the traditional architectural methods of Japan.
Kobayashi and his collective treehouse builders continue to promote treehouses using driftwoods
and reclaimed woods found locally as materials for their projects,
and sometimes recyclable waste materials, in the hope to create and
promote a new way of architecture that brings people and nature closer
without harming the health of trees, its growth, and the surrounding natural environment.
